WWW WEDNESDAY – JUNE 7, 2023

Hello, my friends. I hope that you’re having a great Wednesday so far. Here it’s incredibly smoky, and hard to breathe. I’m asthmatic and I am coughing up a storm. It’s not going to be pretty today — it’s apparently going to be the worst today, and then maybe get better? We’ll see. I think we’re going to have problems with smoke until they get the fires up in Canada taken care of. Oh well.

I am on the last book of the Lockwood & Co series and I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with these books. They are so well written (though the fat shaming I could have done without) and they’re so much fun. I love the mysteries at the heart of every book, and the characters themselves are all absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend them. Next, I’m not entirely sure what I’ll read, but I might dive into my ARC of Dark Water Daughter.

Happy Wednesday!

WWW WEDNESDAY – MAY 31, 2023

Morning! Good news is my foot feels a little better today. Bad news — I’ll have to do a bit more walking today than I have been doing. Kiddo’s got his 2 year doc appt today. Time to see how much of a giant he is!

I’m in the last quarter of my ARC of Morgan Is My Name, a retelling of the Arthurian legend through Morgan le Fay’s eyes. So far I’m really enjoying it — it’s right up teenaged-me’s alley! I just finished up Melt For You over the weekend. My third reread of that book, and it’s still fantastic. Next, I’m going to be diving into the world of Lockwood and Co, because I loved the TV series, and because I love the author’s other work! It’s sitting on the border between YA and middle grade, when it comes to age ranges, but I don’t mind in the slightest.

Happy Wednesday!

WWW WEDNESDAY – MAY 24, 2023

Good morning my friends! I hope you’re having a great week so far! It’s time for another WWW Wednesday, so let’s just dive right into it.

I’m in a huge contemporary romance mood right now, so that’s probably what you’ll see for a bit. I’m not sorry about it at all. I am so close to finishing up The Devil Gets His Due, but I’m not really enjoying this one too much. They hated each other too much at the beginning. It’s not working for me as much as I wanted it to. I finished up The Devil You Know yesterday morning, and I wasn’t a super fan of this one, either. I guess I really only liked the first two books in this series. Oh well. Next, I might pick up a reread. I’m not sure how many times I’ve read this one, but Melt For You is a forever favorite.

Happy Wednesday!

WWW WEDNESDAY – MAY 17, 2023

Bonjour! It’s Wednesday, the middle of the week. We’re almost through, my darlings! This week feels like it’s been nonstop, and I’m ready for a day of nothing. I don’t get that today, though, bc I get to set my office up for a huge board meeting. Everyone’s got their own special requests that I get to attempt to meet. Wish me luck.

I’m almost done with The Road to Roswell, which is just as entertaining as I thought it was going to be. I love Connie Willis’s work, so I had high hopes that are absolutely met. I finished up A Certain Appeal over the weekend, and thought it was just okay. I wanted more from it that I just didn’t get. Next, I’ll read The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels because my hold finally came in at the library!

I hope you’re having a great week, babes.

WWW WEDNESDAY – MAY 10, 2023

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!! WEEE!

Alright look, last week I read Desire in His Blood by Zoey Draven, and really freaking loved it. So now, I’m basically diving head first into her backlist. I’m not sorry. I’m not ashamed. Draven is an absolutely fantastic writer, and I can knock out one of her books in a matter of hours. SO, you’ll probably be seeing me reading her books…for a little bit. Sorry the covers are so…muscley. (I’m not sorry) ANYWHO, I hope you’re reading something great.

Happy reading to you, my friends!

WWW WEDNESDAY – MAY 3, 2023

I could literally repeat exactly what I wrote last week for today, but I won’t. I didn’t sleep well last night. I’m sore all over, nauseous and just want to crawl back into bed. Instead, I’m here, so. Do with that what you will. It’s Wednesday! In a week I’ll be 33, somehow. In two days, my kid will be two! Birthdays all around.

Becky and I are halfway through our buddy read of Perilous Times, and so far we’re really loving it. It’s a surprisingly easy read, with enough action to definitely keep your attention. I’m also reading Desire in His Blood which is about a million times better written than the cover would suggest. I’m enjoying it way more than I expected to, really. I just finished Thornhedge on Monday, and absolutely loved it. You’ll get a review later this week. Next, I have no idea what I’m going to read, so this ARC of Morgan is My Name will stand in place for whatever book I choose to pick up next!

Happy reading to you, my friends!

WWW WEDNESDAY – APRIL 26, 2023

Good morning, my dears. I hope you slept better than I did. This time it wasn’t the kids fault — it was me. I think I have a touch of insomnia, and last night it was hitting me quite badly. I woke up with a sore back, and a headache. Boo. Here’s hoping things get better quickly.

I still haven’t picked out what book I’m going to read next, so you can have the last two books I read instead. I finished up The Nightborn Duet last night, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. There were parts in the middle of The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King that were really extremely boring and/or slow, but it resolved and got interesting again. On Monday, Becky and I will be buddy-reading Perilous Times! I’m looking forward to it, I’ve heard good things!

Happy reading to you, my friends!

WWW WEDNESDAY – APRIL 19, 2023

Hello everyone! It’s Wednesday, and it’s still cold, wet, and gross outside. It SNOWED yesterday, for Pete’s sake. It was snowing a little bit this morning, too, when we were putting the kiddo into Grammie’s car. I am tired of the snow and would like that warmer weather back, please.

My reading has slowed down a bit this week as I started picking up writing again! I wrote 4k+ words in the past two days, and I’m really feeling it. I’m still reading, just not as much as writing has taken over that time space! I’m barely into my ARC of Witch King, and so far I’m enjoying it. It’s vastly, vastly different from Murderbot, but I still see Martha Wells in the writing. There’s a lot of humor, and lightheartedness in the text itself, if not the subject matter. I finished up my reread of ACOTAR with A Court of Silver Flames, and while I still hate Nesta, she does make more sense. She always makes more sense after reading that book. Next, I think I’ll probably give The Serpent and the Wings of Night a shot, I’ve heard good things and I’m a sucker for a fantasy romance. Here’s hoping I like it better than Broadbent’s other series.

Happy reading to you, my friends!

WWW WEDNESDAY – APRIL 12, 2023

Hello everyone! It’s Wednesday! It’s Spring outside, finally! The sun is shining, the temperatures are above frigid, and the grass is finally dried out a little from all the rain we’ve been getting. I finally feel like a person again, and not just a weird hibernating creature. I love Spring, but Spring does not love me. Allergies usually hit me over the head with a bat right about now, so we’ll see how long I’m happy that it’s finally Spring!!!! Either way, I hope that you are enjoying the change of seasons, wherever you are.

I am halfway through my third reread of ACOTAR. I love these books with all my heart. I am fully aware that they aren’t the best written things in the world, and that they aren’t perfect, but the joy they bring me is unmatched, frankly. I haven’t reread them in three years, so I thought it was time to pick them back up. I just started A Court of Wings and Ruin last night, after finishing up A Court of Mist and Fury yesterday afternoon. ACOMAF is my absolute favorite of the bunch. Not sure if I’ll post my slapdash reviews on the blog, but they are up on Goodreads, if anyone’s interested. After ACOWAR, I’ll head right into Nesta’s book, A Court of Silver Flames.

Happy reading to you, my friends!

WWW WEDNESDAY – APRIL 5, 2023

Good morning to you my friends! I had a not so great day yesterday at work, so here’s hoping that today is much better. I hope your Tuesday was good, or at least relaxing!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam over on Taking on a World of Words. The idea is simple, every week you dedicate a post to the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What have you just finished reading? What are you going to read next?

I am a little over halfway through The Malevolent Seven, and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s quite short, but it really is working for me right now. I just finished up Love Lettering a day or two ago, and WOW did I love that book. Review up later this week, I think. Next, I’m not really sure what I’ll be reading. I have two more ARCs for May — Witch King, and Perilous Times. I think I’m buddy reading Perilous Times with Becky, but I’ll have to double check!!

Happy reading to you, my friends!
