THE FIRST YEAR-LONG SCAVENGER HUNT

Last year, my husband and I did a version of Reddit’s Sci-fi/Fantasy Bingo. I got bingo at least three times, but ultimately did not finish out my card. In 2023, I thought I’d change things up a bit, and I’m inviting all of you to join in! Next year, I will host THE YEAR-LONG SCAVENGER HUNT!

What’s the Year-Long Scavenger Hunt, you ask? Well, it’s basically a bingo, but with a few differences. There are 31 prompts for the entire year — January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. You can choose to read 31 books where each book fits a different prompt or you can choose to find books that fit multiple prompts. The more times over you complete the entire Hunt, the cooler you are. And don’t we all want to be super cool???

Few things:

  1. Rereads count as long as you read the book within the year of 2023.
  2. You don’t have to do this with Sci-fi/Fantasy books, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be easier if you do.
  3. There’s no one here to slap your wrist if you do something ‘wrong’. Have fun with this!

Without further ado — here are our 2023 Scavenger Hunt prompts:

  1. This sounds fun especially as Fantasy and Sci fi form a large part of my reading. The only trouble with year long prompts is that I have a habit of forgetting about them 😯

  2. This looks like fun! I think I can definitely do some of these with non-SFF titles. I’m terrible at challenges but this seems a lot more low-key which might be more my speed. I’m still deciding whether to do any additional reading challenges in 2023 but this will definitely be my top choice if I do! Great idea, Jordyn 🙂

  3. […] THE FIRST YEAR-LONG SCAVENGER HUNT organised by Jordyn @ Birdies Book Nook. The prompts are reasonable and seem like the challenge won’t be a bit of a stretch. There are 31 prompts and all you need to do is try to read as many books over the year that fit them. Will you be the one to finish the scavenger hunt multiple times? You could be! Should I make recommendation lists for each prompt? Let me know. […]

  4. […] Jordyn @ Birdie’s Book Nook has organized a year-long scavenger hunt with 31 prompts. The goal is to find books that fit the different prompts until you are able to fill all 31 of them. If you finish before the end of the year, start over and see how many times you can collect them all. 🙂 This sounds super fun and is geared towards SFF books, which I love. […]

  5. I kept meaning to check this out but things have been crazy. So… I’m going to do the low-key version and just read what I read and see what prompts I fill. Since I read so much fantasy, I think I should be able to get most filled! I imagine it will taper off a lot in June when I have this baby. Great prompts! ❤
