THE RULES:
- Give credit to the creator of this tag – Jordyn Reads
- If you want to, pingback to the post you first saw this tag.
- And most importantly, have fun!

A FAERIE BARGAIN: Pick a book in which a character makes a bad deal / is blackmailed.
I’m reading one right now, actually! In Rules of Arrangement, Adelaide is forced to help an old friend after he finds out she’s writing papers for money. It’s blackmail through and through.

CHANGELING: Pick a book in which a character is dropped into a new world.
Is there a better book for this topic than The Ten Thousand Doors of January? I’m not sure. The whole book is about January being able to open doors into different worlds.

WINGS OR MAGIC: Pick one or the other, and list three favorite books that include characters with that trait.
I’m picking MAGIC. In The Night Circus, Celia and Marco are both magicians locked in a competition that neither one of them really agreed to. In A Marvellous Light, Edwin is a magician that pretty much everyone underestimates. In Sorcery of Thorns, Nathaniel is a great sorcerer who comes to the rescue of Elisabeth, the main character.

ANIMAL COMPANIONS: Pick a book in which there is a talking animal.

I have to pick the book/series with my favorite talking animals ever, The Old Kingdom Series. Mogget the cat, and the Disreputable Dog can pretty much never be topped. Dog doesn’t show up until Lirael, but Mogget is in the first book.

FATED MATES: Pick a book in which there is a mating bond / Pick a book with true love in it.
The ‘mates’ trope is one of my absolute favorites, but I don’t actually have that many books with it in them! I gotta find more mate books. My favorites of the few that I do have, though, are Diana/Matthew, Feyre/Rhys, and Aelin/Rowan.

THE SPRING COURT: Pick a book in which plants feature a large role.

Without Luella’s plant magic in A Deal With the Elf King, the elf realm would wither away and die.

THE SUMMER COURT: Pick a book in which the ocean or a body of water features a large role.
The male lead in It Happened One Summer, Brendan, is a fisherman in the pacific northwest. I’d say the ocean plays a pretty big part of this book!

THE AUTUMN COURT: Pick a book in which fire plays a large role.
Spook, or Lestibournes takes up the title Survivor of the Flames in The Hero of Ages, after he wakes up in a burning building and manages to escape. Spook ends up playing a big role in this book.

THE WINTER COURT: Pick a book in which a character almost freezes to death.
This happens in both Bloodsworn Saga books. Two words: Frost Spiders. That’s all I’m going to say, because I don’t want to spoil anyone for anything.

Alright, it’s my first go at making a book tag. It might fail, it might flop, but whatever. I wanted to come up with questions that were unique, and maybe brought out books that aren’t seen frequently. Please tag me if you do this!! I’d love to see your answers.

Ahhh love this post & thanks to much for the tag! BTW have you seen Margaret Rogerson’s hint that she’s writing a sequel to Sorcery of Thorns?!? I think the official announcement is Monday and I am SO EXCITED! Love so many of these books and have all the rest on my tbr lol, 😀

haha Sarah j maas is like the goddess of the mates trope at this point haha. maybe u could try reading Jennifer armentrout books because they give off similar vibes altho the creatures aren’t exactly fae. i removed the old kingdom series from my Goodreads tbr a yr or so back, but this makes me want to read it! 🥺 lovely post!

I detested the two Armentrout books that I’ve read, unfortunately. I could not stand them. BUT thank you for the rec, nonetheless! And PLEASE go and read The Old Kingdom series, because I cannot recommend that one enough!! ❤

Ooooh, I LOVE this tag! 😍 I love anything fae-themed and this is awesome. Thank you for the tag! (Also, Mogget is the best and thank you for the reminder that I STILL need to continue that series lol!)

Omg Destiny, if you haven’t finished The Old Kingdom series, you absolutely have to get through at least the first three. Mogget plays a huge role in the last book, and you have to see it. It’s so, so good. ❤
